Whether you're contemplating a career in recruitment or simply enjoy learning about the environment and life at TRIA, this article gives an exclusive glimpse into our dynamic and fast-paced industry and the TRIA experience. Meet, Macauley!
  • Describe your job in 5 words or less: Creating connections.
  • What led you to working at TRIA? After working in agency recruitment for over 3 years in one small firm and my time in sales being interrupted by Covid I had lost my mojo and considered leaving agency all together. I had TRIA on my radar when I made the change and after meeting the founders and seeing how they worked I knew it aligned with what I wanted out of recruitment. This was a relationship led approach as opposed to quick wins.
  • What does your working week look like? My working day can vary significantly. Generally my days are spent in the office as I am someone who likes to be out and about. It is good to be surrounded by the team and the dreamy views from TRIA Towers. I am very much a person who needs to be highly caffeinated so my Teams calls with prospective candidates and my network facilitates this nicely. If I am not resourcing active roles or keeping in touch my clients and network I will be driving ahead with business development. More recently I have been out on the road meeting prospective senior candidates and clients which has resulted in some fabulous relationships being bred. These meetings range from popping out for a coffee in Bristol to a fully packed day in London and on the train for 6:30AM!
  • What’s your favourite and most challenging parts of being a recruitment consultant? I love that placement feeling where someone is over the moon with their new role and both client and candidate are happy, you know it’s a job well done. The most challenging part of the role is the unpredictable nature. One month can be great the next, disappointing. It is managing these highs and lows which is key and will help you succeed working as a recruitment consultant - just as important as celebrating the wins!
  • A career highlight so far? In terms of TRIA, I have had my most successful year ever in recruitment and hoping to smash that record again! I also thoroughly enjoyed organising our Christmas Trip to London and look forward to what the Founders have in store for the team in 2023.
TRIA's Christmas and end of year trip, London 2022
  • A goal you want to achieve? I am pushing for my promotion to SC3 this year.
  • What advice would you give to someone looking to start in tech recruitment? Never take anything personally - which can be difficult to do when you care about your role, and something I need to listen to and remember more often.
