We’re looking for an experienced Solution Designer to join the Operational Technology (OT) product group, supporting the design and delivery of technology solutions that underpin critical operational systems and networks.

Working closely with Architecture, Business Solutions and delivery teams, you will be responsible for designing end-to-end solutions that meet business requirements while aligning with enterprise architecture standards and long-term technical strategy. The role requires experience working at both high-level and detailed design stages within an Operational Technology environment, ideally involving technologies such as SCADA, RTUs and distributed network control systems.

The Solution Designer plays a key role across the full project lifecycle, from initial concept through to delivery. You will use your knowledge of the existing application landscape and available technical options to design cost-effective, fit-for-purpose solutions while ensuring alignment with strategic architecture roadmaps.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working with Enterprise Architecture and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
  • Designing end-to-end solutions and producing High Level Designs (HLDs) while working with vendors and partners to develop Detailed Designs (DDs).
  • Ensuring solutions align with corporate architecture principles, security standards and application roadmaps.
  • Acting as the subject matter expert for solution design within the OT product group.
  • Presenting designs through internal governance forums and ensuring risks, dependencies and impacts are clearly understood.
  • Supporting delivery teams during implementation, testing and design changes.
  • Coordinating with third-party vendors and partners to integrate their designs into the overall solution architecture.
  • Maintaining awareness of industry trends and continuously improving solution design practices.

Skills and experience required:

  • Experience in Solution Design, Architecture or Systems Analysis roles.
  • Background working within Operational Technology (OT) environments such as SCADA, RTUs, industrial control systems or distributed network operations.
  • Proven experience producing High Level and/or Detailed Designs for projects or programmes.
  • Experience with requirements management, process mapping and context diagrams.
  • Ability to translate complex technical detail into clear business language.
  • Comfortable working with evolving or incomplete requirements in a fast-changing environment.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to challenge, influence and build relationships at all levels.
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive, detail-focused and solutions-driven approach.
