Platform Engineering Manager (Azure)

Up to £85,000 + Bonus
Hybrid | Hampshire or Worcestershire | 2 Days Per Week Onsite

We’re partnering with an established technology-driven organisation to recruit an experienced Platform Engineering Manager to lead the next phase of its cloud platform evolution.

This is a senior leadership role for someone who combines strong people management with technical credibility and enjoys building high-performing engineering teams. You’ll shape the strategy, roadmap and delivery of a modern Azure platform, creating services that enable development teams to build and deploy software more efficiently, securely and reliably.

You’ll be responsible for driving a genuine Platform-as-a-Product approach, helping to create an internal platform that engineers actively choose to use because it delivers an outstanding developer experience.

This opportunity would suit an existing Platform Engineering Manager, Cloud Engineering Manager or an experienced Lead/Principal Platform Engineer ready to take the next step into strategic leadership.

The Role

  • Lead, coach and develop a team of experienced Platform Engineers, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
  • Own the vision, roadmap and delivery of Azure platform services, treating the platform as a product with internal engineering teams as customers.
  • Champion Platform Engineering principles and influence stakeholders across Engineering, Architecture and Security.
  • Deliver self-service cloud capabilities that reduce complexity and accelerate software delivery.
  • Drive automation, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, observability, identity management, resilience and security best practices.
  • Define engineering standards and provide technical leadership across cloud platform services.
  • Oversee platform operations, service ownership, reliability, incident management and continuous improvement.
  • Lead architectural discussions and technical decision-making while mentoring senior engineers and supporting their development.

About You

You’ll have:

  • Experience leading Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering or DevOps teams.
  • Strong Azure cloud engineering expertise with Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform, Bicep or similar).
  • A background in building or owning cloud platforms or internal developer platforms.
  • Proven success developing high-performing engineering teams through coaching, mentoring and empowerment.
  • Experience influencing senior technical stakeholders across multiple technology functions.
  • A solid understanding of cloud operations, production services, reliability, observability and operational excellence.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A passion for engineering excellence, continuous improvement and creating outstanding developer experiences.
