Technical Business Analyst

FTC – 12 months

Location: Hybrid (with 1 day a week in the London office required)
Employment Type: Full-Time – Fixed Term Contract

Salary: Up to £80k plus benefits including bonus

We’re looking for a Technical Business Analyst to join a growing Engineering function and play a key role in delivering large-scale technology transformation programmes for a well-known retail brand. This is not a traditional Business Analyst role. You’ll work closely with Solution Architects, Engineering Leads, Delivery Managers, Product Teams, and Business Stakeholders to ensure technical solutions are practical, scalable, and aligned with business objectives.

You’ll be comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders and technical teams. If you enjoy understanding how systems work together, solving complex problems, and influencing technology decisions, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

The Role

As a Technical Business Analyst, you’ll act as the bridge between business requirements and technical delivery, helping teams understand not only what needs to be built, but why it is needed and how it fits into the wider technology landscape.

You’ll work across multiple programmes and platforms, ensuring solutions deliver business value while remaining technically robust and fit for purpose.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather, analyse, and document business and technical requirements.
  • Work closely with architects and engineers to review solution designs and technical approaches.
  • Analyse integrations, system interactions, and data flows.
  • Identify risks, gaps, dependencies, and edge cases early in the delivery lifecycle.
  • Create and refine user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional documentation.
  • Facilitate workshops and stakeholder discussions across business and technology teams.
  • Support Agile delivery teams throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Translate technical concepts into clear business language.

Skills & Experience

Technical Delivery

  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
  • Writing user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Strong understanding of the SDLC.
  • Experience partnering with engineering and technical delivery teams.
  • Managing requirements through the delivery lifecycle.

Stakeholder Management & Communication

  • Building strong relationships across business and technology teams.
  • Influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Translating technical concepts into business outcomes.

Technical Knowledge

Whilst this is not a hands-on engineering role, you should be comfortable discussing:

  • APIs and integrations.
  • Data flows and data analysis concepts.
  • SQL and database fundamentals.
  • Technical architecture and solution design.
  • Non-functional requirements such as security, performance, resilience, and scalability.

Desirable Experience

Experience within retail or customer-focused environments would be advantageous, particularly in areas such as:

  • E-commerce
  • Retail technology
  • Customer journeys
  • Order management
  • Payments
  • Fulfilment and logistics
  • Inventory and stock management

Why Join Us?

This is an opportunity to join a team where technology is at the heart of business transformation. You’ll play a crucial role in ensuring solutions are practical, scalable, and focused on delivering real value, while working alongside talented professionals across engineering, architecture, product, and business teams.

If you’re a technically minded Business Analyst who enjoys bridging the gap between business and technology, we’d love to hear from you. If you have the relevant skills and interested in hearing more about this fantastic opportunity, please apply with your latest CV.
