Azure Cloud Migration Engineer

Location: Sunderland (3 days per week onsite – days may vary)

Duration: 3-Month Initial Contract

Rate: £tbc on application/day inside IR35

We’re looking for an experienced Azure Cloud Migration Engineer / Azure Migration Engineer to support a major data centre exit and cloud transformation programme.

This is a hands-on contract role focused on migrating on-premise infrastructure, servers and applications into Microsoft Azure. The Azure Cloud Migration Engineer will join a team responsible for delivering critical migration activities, building Azure infrastructure, supporting landing zones, and ensuring operational resilience throughout the migration journey.

The programme includes workload migration, cloud platform engineering, infrastructure modernisation and remediation of security vulnerabilities identified across the estate.

This opportunity would suit an Azure Cloud Migration Engineer / Azure Migration Engineer who has delivered large-scale Azure migration programmes and is comfortable working across cloud infrastructure, datacentre services, networking and operational support.

The Role

As an Azure Cloud Migration Engineer / Azure Migration Engineer, you will:

• Support the migration of datacentre-hosted workloads into Microsoft Azure
• Assist with migration planning, testing and production cutovers
• Create and execute migration runbooks
• Build and support Azure Landing Zones
• Support server and application migration activities
• Configure and maintain Azure infrastructure and networking
• Work closely with suppliers, project teams and technical stakeholders
• Remediate security vulnerabilities across infrastructure platforms
• Provide operational support across both cloud and datacentre environments
• Support patching, monitoring, incident management and platform maintenance activities

Essential Experience

• Proven experience delivering Azure cloud migration projects
• Migration of on-premise servers and applications into Azure
• Azure infrastructure engineering and administration
• Azure Landing Zone deployment and configuration
• Strong Azure networking knowledge
• PowerShell automation and scripting
• Windows Server administration
• Active Directory and/or Entra ID
• Experience producing migration runbooks and cutover documentation
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale infrastructure environments
